Dr.
Khalid Abdulla
is
the Chief Executive Officer of Real Estate Finance Company (REEF),
which he joined recently. During 2000-2005, Khalid was AGM Business
Development at Bank of Bahrain & Kuwait (BBK). Prior to joining
BBK, Khalid chaired the Department of Economics & Finance at
the University of Bahrain where he had been working for twenty years
during which time, he was involved in curricula development and
programme development in addition to teaching economic courses and
conducting applied research. Khalid holds a Doctorate Degree in
economics from Exeter University, a Masters Degree in economic development
and a Postgraduate Diploma in economics from the University of East
Anglia. Khalid is an active member of numerous civil and professional
societies in Bahrain and a public speaker on current economic affairs.
He produced and hosted a live TV programme that debated economic
and public issues. |

Dr.
Jasim Al-Ajmi
is
an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Bahrain (UOB).
He served as Chairman of the Accounting Department from 1992 to
1996 and worked as consultant for a number of local institutions.
Previously, he taught accounting and finance at the University of
Maryland and Econometrics at the Arabian Gulf University. Prior
to joining UOB he served as a credit analyst with Bank of Bahrain
and Kuwait and worked on syndicate loans with the Arab Banking Corporation.
Dr. Al-Ajmi is co-founder and the Chairman of the Bahrain Transparency
Society, the only local NGO fighting corruption. He is an active
member of the local and regional economic, financial and anti-corruption
community. He has served as a coordinator of Working Group 1 in
Open and Transparent Policy and a member of Working Group 5 in Corporate
Governance as part of MENA-OECD Investment for Development Initiative,
as Chairman of the Administrative and Finance Committee of the Specific
Council for Training for Construction Companies, and as a member
of a national committee that drafted Bahrain’s Procurement
Law. Dr. Al-Ajmi is a Bahraini citizen and holds a PhD. in Finance,
a Masters Degree in Economics of Finance and Investment, a Post
Graduate Diploma in Business Analysis, and a BSc. in Managerial
Statistics. |

Ahmed
D. Alumran
is
a co-founder and Managing Partner of Bahrain-based Stratum, an investment
advisory firm focused on the development and finance of regional
business ventures. Mr. Alumran has spent most of his professional
career in the fields of strategy consulting, technology ventures,
and private equity investments. During his career, Mr. Alumran has
played either management or advisory roles, internationally and
regionally, in a number of industries including banking, insurance,
telecommunications, information technology, manufacturing, and energy.
After a period in New York at a global strategic consultancy serving
the senior management of Fortune 500 clients, Mr. Alumran played
a leadership role at a U.S.- based telecommunications company and
a financial services boutique. Mr. Alumran is an active member of
the local and regional economic development and financial services
communities, having served on the Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) subcommittee of Bahrain’s Economic Development
Board (EDB) and having been a founding member of the Gulf Venture
Capital Association (GVCA). Mr. Alumran is a Bahraini citizen holding
Masters of Engineering and Bachelors of Science degrees in Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT). |

Dr.
Ala’a Al-Yousuf
is
the Chief Economist of Gulf Finance House (GFH), the leading Islamic
investment bank based in Bahrain, which he joined in early 2005.
During 2000-2004, Ala’a was Director for the Middle East &
Africa in the Sovereign Ratings Group at Standard & Poor’s
(S&P) in London. He headed a team of analysts covering over
20 countries in the region. Prior to joining S&P, Ala’a
was a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF),
which he joined in 1990. He worked on several countries as well
as policy issues such as international capital flows, sovereign
defaults, trade liberalisation, poverty alleviation and sustainable
development. In 1999
he spent six months at the IMF office in Geneva coordinating with
the WTO. Ala’a also worked as a research officer at the Oxford
Institute for Energy Studies, during 1988-90, and a lecturer at
Oxford Brookes University during 1986-88. Ala’a holds Doctorate
and Masters degrees in Economics from the University of Oxford,
a Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Buckingham
in the UK and a Certificate in Business Studies from the University
of Bahrain (formerly the Gulf Polytechnic). He is a member of Bahrain’s
National Competitiveness Council. |

Jawad
Habib Jawad
is
Senior Partner of BDO Jawad Habib. He has over 30 years’ experience
in professional accounting and consulting. He began his career with
Bahrain Petroleum Company from where he moved on to successfully
complete the accountancy examinations for the Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants in London. In 1971, Mr. Jawad moved to
the professional field of auditing and management consultancy. He
was a partner of the Price Waterhouse Middle East Joint Venture
operations for 4 years until he established Jawad Habib & Co.,
a professional firm of public accountants and management consultants,
in 1980. As the Senior Partner of Jawad Habib & Co. Mr. Jawad
established the firm’s affiliation with Coopers & Lybrand
International in 1986. Following the worldwide merger between Price
Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand in 1998, Jawad Habib led the
Bahrain practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, as the Country Senior
Partner, for 3 years, until 2001. At the beginning of 2002 Jawad
Habib & Co. became a Member Firm of BDO International. Mr. Jawad
is a member of several accounting professional bodies as well as
the Board member of Bahrain’s Economic Development Board,
and the High Council for Vocational Training. He is Vice Chairman
- Bahrain Training Institute and Chairman of Bahrain National Competitiveness

Khalil
Nooruddin
is
the Director of the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance which
is the premier provider of training, development and education programmes
to the financial industry in Bahrain and the rest of the GCC countries.
Prior to assuming this assignment in 2004, Mr. Nooruddin worked
for twenty years as a corporate and investment banker. His last
assignment in this field was with Investcorp Bank where he served
as a member of the firm's Management Committee for ten years. Before
Investcorp, Mr. Nooruddin served as a corporate banker with Chase
Manhattan Bank in Bahrain and as an investment banking professional
with Chase Investors Management Corporation and UBS Asset Management
in London and Zurich. Before his banking career, Mr. Nooruddin worked
as an operations research analyst with Bahrain Petroleum Company
(Bapco) in Bahrain and Caltex Petroleum Corporation in New York.
Mr. Nooruddin is a Chartered Financial Analyst, holds a Master of
Science degree with Honours in Quantitative Analysis from Stern
Business School in New York University and a Bachelor of Science
degree with Honours in Systems Engineering from the University of
Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Nooruddin is an active
member of several civil and professional societies in Bahrain.

Marwan
K. Tabbara
is
a co-founder and Managing Partner of Bahrain-based Stratum, an investment
advisory firm focused on the development and finance of regional
business ventures. With professional experience in both investment
banking and technology management, Mr. Tabbara currently serves
as an advisor and board member to a number of regional companies
in various industries such as banking, insurance, and telecommunications.
Having previously worked for Citigroup in New York, London, and
Bahrain as a resident Vice President, Mr. Tabbara played a lead
role in originating and managing corporate finance, project finance,
and advisory engagements for leading clients within the Middle East
and Europe. Mr. Tabbara is currently an active member of the local
and regional economic development and financial services communities
and has served on the Investment Climate subcommittee of Bahrain’s
Economic Development Board (EDB) in addition to being a founding
member and current member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf
Venture Capital Association (GVCA). Mr. Tabbara is a Bahraini citizen
and carries a Masters of Engineering Management degree and Bachelors
of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics from
Duke University.
